On July 23, 2007, the Trustees of the Whitewater Valley REMC Community Trust, Inc. met and awarded eleven area organizations $12,047 in grants from the Whitewater Valley REMC Community Trust, Inc. Fund.
The following organizations received grants in July: American Cancer Society (Fayette County) $500
Boys & Girls Clubs of Wayne County $500
Communities in Schools of Wayne County $500
Hagerstown Jefferson Twp. Public Library $275
Historic Farmland USA, Inc. $ 1,500
Indiana University East $1,000
Northeastern Elementary 3rd Grade $200
Randolph County Kids, Inc. $1,500
Randolph County 4-H Club, Inc. $3,000
Union County High School $1,572 Wayne County Sheriff’s Department $1,500
The Whitewater Valley REMC Community Trust has given away over $145,000 since 2004 to many local not-for-profit organizations. The trustees meet quarterly on the fourth Monday of January, April, July, and October to review applications for grants. The next application deadline is October 8, 2007.

Individuals
or groups in the community can make application. Application
forms are available at the Whitewater Valley REMC office
or can be downloaded below. Application deadlines are the
second Monday in January, April, July, and October.

Whitewater Valley REMC Community
Trust, Inc.
Members who participate in your cooperative’s Operation Round
Up program fund the Whitewater Valley REMC Community Trust, Inc.
To date there are approximately 12,000 Whitewater Valley REMC members.
Of this number, 71% participate in Operations Round Up. This generates
nearly $43,000 per year. It is this money that is granted to qualifying
organizations which, in turn, provides a benefit to area residents
as well as the entire community.
Since it began, the Whitewater Valley REMC Community Trust, Inc.
has collected thousands of dollars through Operation Round Up contributions.
A wide range of organizations have applied for and received funding.
In 2006, the grants awarded by the Trust surpassed the $100,000
milestone. Forty-five local organizations received a total of $38,300
in 2006 alone.
The trustees meet quarterly on the fourth Monday of January, April,
July, and October to review applications for grants. The Whitewater
Valley REMC Community Trust, Inc. is a state-chartered, non-profit,
501 (c)3 organization. Donations are tax-deductible and participants
receive a contribution summary for tax purposes on either their
January or February bill, depending on billing cycles.
