Youth Tour

What is the Government-in-Action Youth Tour?

The Rural Electric Youth Tour to Washington, D.C. is taken each year to provide young adults with the opportunity to travel to our nation’s capital:

  • to experience first hand how our government functions,

  • to learn about the complexities of today’s electric utility industry,

  • to discover the unique characteristics of cooperative business enterprise,

  • to meet and work with hundreds of their peers from throughout the United States

RULES AND REGULATIONS:

To be eligible for the Rural Electric Youth Tour to Washington, the following provisions will govern the acceptance of applicants from the local cooperatives:

  • Applicants must have completed their junior year in high school, and be enrolled for their senior year.
  • Applications submitted by systems that are members of Whitewater Valley REMC will be given first consideration.  If there is room and they can be accommodated, applicants from non-REMC members will be considered on a first come-first served basis.
