2025 Shedding Light on Hunger Golf Tournament Recap
On July 26, we proudly hosted our 9th annual Shedding Light on Hunger Golf Tournament at the Liberty County Club, raising $8,100. This event wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity of our vendors, local businesses, participants, and dedicated WWVREMC volunteers — thank you for making it a success!
After the tournament, WWVREMC employees quickly packed lunch bags filled with food to pass out to students attending the Live in Liberty Back to School Bash on July 30. A sincere thank you goes to everyone who sponsored lunch bags this year. And congratulations to Michelle Williams, the lucky winner of our $100 Amazon gift card drawing for lunch bag sponsors!
The Shedding Light on Hunger initiative reflects one of our core cooperative principles: Concern for Community. Launched in 2012, the program began as a food collection and distribution effort to help keep local food pantries stocked. We started our annual charity golf outing a few years after the launch. All funds given to nonprofits are entirely through employee contributions, partner donations, and our annual charity golf tournament proceeds. The golf tournament is our biggest fundraiser to help shed light on hunger in the communities we serve.
If you know of an organization in our service area that includes parts of Dearborn, Fayette, Franklin, Randolph, Union, and Wayne counties and could benefit from this program’s funds, we encourage them to submit a request here.
