Whitewater Valley REMC’s Operation Round Up awarded $11,932 to 16 community organizations in the second half of 2025.

On July 26, we proudly hosted our 9th annual Shedding Light on Hunger Golf Tournament at the Liberty County Club, raising $8,100. This event wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity of our vendors, local businesses, participants, and dedicated WWVREMC volunteers — thank you for making it a success!

The United Nations has declared July 5, 2025, the International Year of Cooperatives, emphasizing their role in sustainable development. One way Indiana’s electric cooperatives embody this mission is through Project Indiana, which has brought electricity to remote Guatemalan villages since 2012, impacting more than 3,860 individuals in total. With six trips completed, the initiative has powered hundreds of homes, schools, and churches while supporting cooperative formation, education, and infrastructure.

Whitewater Valley REMC’s Operation Round Up awarded $18,000 to 22 community organizations in the first half of 2025.

Operation Round Up has been supporting communities in the Whitewater Valley REMC’s six-county service area since 2003. This program is entirely funded by cooperative members whose generous contributions allow the cooperative to give back to the community. In 2024, $27,474 was awarded to 37 different non-profit organizations from the funds raised by the membership.

You — our cooperative members — are our guiding force. This spring, we are conducting a survey to gather your input and shape our services.

WWVREMC members may receive a phone call or emailed survey invitation in April or May. Your responses will help ensure that we are serving our community effectively, planning to meet local needs, and responsive to opportunities to improve how we serve you.

This year, we will introduce a new family-friendly annual meeting event for our members.

The event will take place on June 12 at our facility, starting at 4 PM, and will include food, entertainment, and prizes. During the event, we will provide updates on our cooperative’s progress from 2024, priorities for 2025 and review the cooperative’s financial health. Your participation as a member is important, and this is an excellent opportunity to connect with board members, employees, and fellow members.

The Treasury Department has reported a rise in consumer complaints about misleading practices by some solar companies. These practices include deceptive claims about costs and savings and aggressive sales tactics.
